Smith Family 'Learning For Life' student sponsorship

Holly has been invited to share her work with The West Coast View Club which works tirelessly to raise donations to help sponsor Smith Family Learning For Life students.

At present they support twenty students. The group meets monthly and invites guest speakers who are active in support of community change. Holly's presentation is titled 'Can autism be learned?' and she looks at how much more effective therapy is when it's approached from the principle of co-design (all stakeholders working together) versus a traditional 'deficit' model of autism.

"Rather than working from a brain deficit-model of autism we can start from the premise that each and every student is intelligent and can upgrade their mind / body connection - if they are given the right tools and are treated respectfully, positively, and creatively – at all ages".

The Smith Family is an independent charity that supports children to become more integrated into the community.
